About Limmud Oz Fest
Limmud Oz is a major Australian Jewish community-wide conference and festival celebrating Jewish learning and culture.
Limmud Oz FEST is the retreat component of the Limmud Oz calendar - an exciting weekend of learning and celebrating all things Jewish, set in beautiful natural surrounds. It involves lectures, discussions, workshops, entertainment and a unique shabbat experience.
Limmud Oz events are unique, volunteer-led, cross-communal and multi-generational; catering for the broad diversity of opinions within the wider Jewish community.
Limmud Oz is just one of over 50 similar events under the umbrella of Limmud International, which is at the forefront of a revolution in global Jewish education and thinking, and is creating a learned, open, dynamic and respectful community. Limmud worldwide attracts over 32,000 people annually and continues to see unprecedented growth, even while more traditional community institutions suffer from decreasing numbers. At Limmud Oz, anyone can be a teacher and everyone is a student. Yes, including YOU!
If you are interested in running a session (on ANYTHING to do with Judaism), remember that at Limmud Oz, you are always a student too.
Limmud Oz is open to all and takes a pluralistic approach to Judaism. To find out more about how religion will be approached at Limmud Oz FEST, click here.
Stay tuned for 2012...
Limmud Oz is held in June (alternating in Melbourne and Sydney each year), over the Queen's Birthday long weekend. International scholars, religious leaders and literary and political experts offer a range of sessions. Workshops, discussion groups and lectures are offered by local and interstate presenters.
In 2012, Limmud Oz will be held in Melbourne.
Limmud Oz is inclusive and offers a range of Jewish experiences. The presenters, outstanding educators and speakers who are unique experts in their fields vary considerably. Diversity of opinion is encouraged; topics for discussion must have a Jewish thread. We try to ensure the greatest diversity of opinion and discussion possible.
